Who do you think you are?
So glad you asked! I’m Amanda, a graduate-degreed life coach who lives just a hair north of Boston. I’ve worked exclusively as a professional coach for the past 7 years, and I’ve coached hundreds (if not thousands) of people to get the results they want for themselves. Coaching is my life’s work, and I adore it.
What training do you have, anyway?
Great question! Did you know that, like therapy, coaching has many different approaches and modalities? I’m dedicated to constantly improving my skills and am trained and versed in therapeutic modalities like Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, as well as coaching modalities like Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and Intrinsic Coaching. I am Master-Certified in Intrinsic Coaching, actually! Additionally, I hold an NBC-HWC, which means I am certified by the board that oversees Health and Wellness Coaches. I’m also a training and education junkie, so you can pretty much always find me learning more and geeking out on the science of coaching.
What does that mean?
That means that, while the field of coaching remains largely unregulated, I seem to be hell-bent on acquiring numerous acronym designations that I can put behind my name. Also, it means I keep up with the research and translate it into helping my clients become their best version of themselves.
So are you all science-y and proper?
Umm, no. I’m a classic Gen-X’er who uses “like” far too much in casual speech. I’m totally normal and approachable. Consider me your new sister/bestie/fun coworker. Also, I curse a lot. I’ll try not to do it too much if it f-ing offends you, though.
Got it. What will coaching do for me?
So I know this sounds like a total cop-out, but the truth is that I don’t know. I don’t know you yet! I don’t know your deepest dreams and aspirations and what makes you the gorgeous, brilliant, unique, amazing human that you are. But guess what? I’m an expert in getting all of that out of you and helping you to leverage your strengths and values to craft a life that feels fantastic and resonant. And that's what you want, right?
So all my dreams will come true?
Absolutely not. And who would want that, anyway? Especially that one dream where Harry Styles asked you to make him a sandwich out of actual sand but all you have is peanut butter? *shudders* Let’s not go there.
But for real. What can I expect?
You can expect to know yourself better, love yourself more fully, deepen your relationships with yourselves and others, and feel like your life “fits” better. You can expect to make progress in ways you didn't necessarily expect, but that you value implicitly.
People I have worked with have: found new jobs, started whole new careers, settled into a comfortable weight, launched businesses, gotten numerous promotions, improved family relationships, written books, moved across the country, perfected their yoga handstand on a stand-up paddleboard, and embarked on fulfilling new relationships.
